 Half-a-million dollars awarded to courageous students!!!

October 15, 2016 - Mail our Appeals Letter-received over $25,000

October- Raffle tickets go on sale - $100 - sold 100 tickets for $10,000

Curt Phares won our Hawaiian trip, Scott Nelson won our Catalina trip and the Vaughts won Emmy Koelh's decorative metal yard sculpture.

Winning ticket drawen at our annual Wine Dinner in March. A fun event grossing $1700. Raffle held on a 6 bottle wine basket

Awarded 44 students for a total of $32,500!!!! Awards are given in May and June.

2015-2016

 We awarded $33,500 to 15 high schools.

Gala Reception was June 29 at Santa Ana Country Club, hosted by Katharine and Jack Trotter - closed this year.

Going back to the year's beginnings -SA begins fifteenith year!!! September 22 is our opening Board meeting.  October of 2015 our annual Appeals Letter raised $21,000, we received a $3000 grant from Amigos de los Ninos in October at their gourmett luncheon, raised $550 at our final year of our Tin Frogs Shoppers Delight Day (a 6 hour event),

Began a new fundraiser in November! Giving Tuesday - the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is set aside by the media as a day for donors to give to their favorite charities. SupportAbility is going to participate in this!! Our first year we received $11,090.00!!!!!!! 

$10,000.00 was received from our Hawaiin raffle and $2000 at our always enjoyable Wine Dinner, both occurring in February at the Spaghetti Bender.

Our annual Appeals Letter raised $23,000, we received a $3000 grant from Amigos de los Ninos, raised $500 at our Tin Frogs Shoppers Delight Day (a 6 hour event), raised $10 ,000 from our Hawaiin raffle and RECEIVED AN UNEXPECTED MATCHING

DONATION OF $20,000!!

Our Wine dinner was Jan. 27 and  sold out!! Received 75 essay applications and awarded 45 students $42000.00  Golf reception and Gala was scheduled for June 17, 2015. It was hosted by Katharine and Jack Trotter.It was HUGE SUCCESS!! 128 people and reciipients attended thos affair Over $31,000 was raised at this inspirational, lovely event! 12 recipients returned to speak,thank and upfayr our vontributors

  • We took a brake from our Spring Wine Dinner. We have to get  a new venue ( our fvorite restaurant closed due to the retirement of it's owner/chef). (This year,2015, our wine dinner will be at the Spaghetti Bender circa 1969.) We ended the year with with everyone's favorite Gala:
  • SupportAbility Golf Tournament and Reception, hosted by Katharine and Jack Trotter. Our most successful Reception followed the golf tournament. 160 guests joined us to hear past award recipients speak openly about their trails and successes.  It was a very INSPIRATIONAL NIGHT !!

  • Julie's name was added to the City of Irvine's Wall of Recognition. The honor was given to her for her work with the community and SupportAbility. Over $20,000.00 has been awarded to deserving Irvine students who have overcome obstacles to graduate high school.

  • Donations continued to be received as SA's quarterly newsletter, EmpowerAbility, was distributed to its contributors. It serves as a PR tool as well as a way to inform people about our progress.
  • Schools distributed applications for the Julie Inman Courage Award.
  • In April, the Board began to receive applications and over 100 essay applications arrived from twenty high schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
  • The Appeals Letter had tremendous results and our other planned events were very successful as well.
  • The Wine Dinner became a favorite! A wine expert is on-hand to give information on each selection.
  • An annual highlight is the wonderful SupportAbility Golf Tournament and Reception. Couselors and recipients speak of their experiences with SupportAbility.
AWARDS
  • The Julie Inman Courage Award distributed forty plus awards at twenty schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties.
  • Total amount given to twenty schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties: $44,500!
2007-2008

  FUNDRAISING EVENTS
  • All of our annual fundraisers continued plus we began our Wine Dinner at Britta's Cafe in Irvine. This features a four course dinner pared with different wines. It takes place in the Spring.
AWARDS
  • The Julie Inman Courage Award recognized over thirty students from twenty schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties. Total amount given: $39,700.
  • 2007 marked the year SupportAbility surpassed $100,000 in giving.

2006-2007

Again we received the annual Amigos de los Niños grant. Each year it is awarded in September.

  • Julie was nominated for a Stevie Award for Small Businesses. The ceremony was in New York City.
  • Set up an Endowment Fund associated with the money received from a Cy Pres settlement naming SupportAbility as beneficiary.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
  • All of our core fundraisers continued as well as a Take your Valentine to Lunch/Dinner at Chaparosa Grill in Tustin. This event took the place of our tea that year.
AWARDS
  • The Julie Inman Courage Award recognized over thirty-five students from twenty schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties.
  • Total amount given: $38,000.

2005-2006

Julie was nominated again for the Athena Award given by Orange County Panhellenic Organization.

  • Julie received the Bank of America Neighborhood Hero Award for her work in the community. The Award was given at a luncheon at the Diamond Club at Anaheim Stadium. A $15,000 donation to SupportAbility was made also.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
  • Previous fundraisers continued plus more schools began Clubs on Campus.
  • SupportAbility received a $15,000 donation and received it at a gala at the Pacific Club celebrating the Ronnie Lott Award.
AWARDS
  • The Julie Inman Courage Award recognized thirty-four students from fifteen schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties.
  • Total awards given: $35,000.
2004-2005

Julie was inducted into the Ring of Honor at Mater Dei High School. (See corresponding page for more detail.)
  • Counselors from participating high schools were honored at a luncheon at Lucca's Restaurant in Irvine.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
  • In addition to our core fundraisers four more funding campaigns were started.
     
    1. The first SupportAbility Campus Club began at Villa Park High School.
    2. Memorial Awards were given to honor loved ones.
    3. An afternoon of shopping began at Tin Frogs, an eclectic boutique. This Shopper's Delight would become an annual event.
    4. The first SupportAbility Golf Tournament/Benefit at the Santa Ana Country Club, hosted by Katharine and Jack Trotter, was held in June. Several recipients were on hand to speak at a reception following the tournament. This, too, would become an annual affair.

  • The Julie Inman Courage Award recognized thirty-two students from fourteen schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties. Total awards given: $27,500.
2003-2004

  • Julie was nominated by Frank Garcia and his "We Give Thanks" organization for Outstanding Women of the Year in 2003.
  • Several complimentary articles highlighting the recipients of the Julie Inman Courage Award were published in the Orange County Register and the Irvine World News.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
  • The annual Appeals Letter was sent to our expanding mailiing list.
  • Rancho San Joaquin Golf competitions and our
  • Valentine's Day Tea, continued as annual fundraisers.
  • An evening of shopping at Puddleducks,
  • a gift boutique in Fullerton, brought in additional revenue.
AWARDS
  • The Julie Inman Courage Award recognized twenty-three deserving students from nine schools in Orange & Los Angeles counties. Total amount awarded: $25,000
2002-2003

PR
  • Julie received the Clara Barton Spectrum Award from the OC Red Cross.
  • A number of articles were published (Trojan Family Magazine and The Key, a magazine celebrating Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority) on this honor and on the work of SupportAbility.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS
  • A letter explaining SupportAbility's mission was sent out to potential contributors in October of 2002.
  • Periodic golf competitions sponsered by the Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club
  • Ambassador Program candy sales at UC Irvine generated additional revenue
  • A Valentine's Day Tea given by Nancy Lewis, one of the women of SupportAbility's Board.
AWARDS
  • The Julie Inman Courage Award recognized fifteen students from four high schools in Orange County.
  • Special recognition was given to a young man in New York who lost five relatives, including his father, at the World Trade Center on 9/11.
  • Total amount awarded $15,500.
